- Kelly Clarkson's recent divorce saw her lose big time
- Now, it seems she may be entitled to re-compensation
- THIS is what a judge has ruled in her favor
They're all messy, of course, but talk about a crazy divorce! The Labor Commissioner's gavel has spoken, and Blackstock's wallet is about to feel a whole lot lighter! In a decision that's music to Clarkson's ears, California’s labor commissioner has belted out a ruling that Blackstock owes the "Since U Been Gone" songstress a whopping $2.6 million in commissions.
Time for some money bags!
Why exactly would that be? For snagging deals that should've been left to the pros at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Now, that is hitting a real sour note in the talent management symphony!
Blackstock's financial encore includes paying back a cool 1.9million for Clarkson′s gig on 'TheVoice,' over200k for a Norweigan Cruise Lines deal, a hefty 450K for a Wayfair marketing collaboration, and even moneys for hosting the Billboard Music Awards. That's right, folks, every penny counts!
Hollywood divorces are super expensive and for good reason!
In October of 2020, Clarkson filed a petition with the California Labor Commission claiming that Blackstock committed multiple violations of the California labor code, including demanding "unconscionable fees and compensation" while acting "in conflict of interest with (her) best interests."
In response, a lawyer for Starstruck Management Group named Bryan Freedman told TMZ, "It is unfortunate that Kelly is again attempting to avoid paying commissions that are due and owing to Starstruck to try and achieve some perceived advantage in her ongoing custody and divorce proceedings."
'The Kelly Clarkson Show': Saved by Strategy!
But hold onto your hats because Blackstock dodged a financial bullet with 'The Kelly Clarkson Show.' The commissioner ruled that his "strategizing" with CAA agents was on the up-and-up, sparing him from an even bigger payout. Phew!
The Financial Finale After seven years of marriage and a divorce that's been more drawn out than a season finale cliffhanger, Clarkson agreed to pay Blackstock child support for their two kids, plus a lump sum that's just a drop in the bucket compared to this latest ruling.
