Cote de Pablo's career took off when she joined NCIS back in 2005. Alongside Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly, she played agent "Ziva David" in the hit series for eight years. The fan-favourite left in season 11, but returned for the season 16 finale and new episodes in season 17—much to the delight of viewers.
After leaving NCIS, de Pablo starred in the American-Chilean disaster film The 33 and, for the role, won the Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was also seen in miniseries The Dovekeepers as "Shirah."
Cote de Pablo: New career as a musical actress?
In an interview with Prevention Magazine, de Pablo reflected on the roles she would like to play. "I somehow identify with women who have gone through things, like the women in Stephen Sondheim's musicals," she said of the famed composer, known for writing complex characters who often face hardship.
"Maybe it's because I'm an older soul. I don't know why at such a young age I could understand where they were coming from. Maybe it was the loss of my country at such a young age," explained de Pablo, who was born in Chile but moved to the United States as a child.
Cote de Pablo has already acted in a Sondheim musical
While studying at Carnegie Mellon, de Pablo played the lead role in A Little Night Music, a musical by Stephen Sondheim. What many also do not know: Cote is trained as a singer, according to Cheatsheet.
The actress has also performed as a singer in multiple screen projects. She sang "Temptation" by Tom Waits at the beginning NCIS season 6 episode "Out of Sight," and sang "Gracias a la Vida" by Violeta Parra in the film The 33.
