Leah Remini slams the Scientology church
Remini is thankful she left! In 2013, Remini and her husband, Angelo Pagan, left Scientology, and as most people know, that's not an easy thing to do!
Remini has a 17-year-old daughter, whom she said "wouldn’t be the strong-minded kid she is now, who, hopefully, is going to make some positive change in the world", had they not left.
"I'm always saying to her and her friends, 'I hope you are going to take all this genius and get your a**es into Congress,'" she said.
Although her daughter is much too young, she will be headed to college in the fall, and Remini says that while she's proud of her daughter, it does bring up some bittersweet feelings!
"Yes, Angelo and I are very proud," she said. "But it’s like I’m having a job of 17 years that I’ve loved and cherished ripped away from me overnight. I’m devastated."
Also Interesting:
After being a part of the church for 30 years, Remini says that watching her daughter thrive away from the problematic religion has been a blessing.
She told the outlet, "My friend Sherry, who also left the church and has a son in college now, recently texted me, 'Aren’t we so jealous of our kids?' We wish we had what we’ve given them."
Remini also shared that the change in pace has been rough for her, and she has to figure out what to do next, now that her daughter won't be there to dote on.
"I’ve always provided for my family members, and I’ve always been the boss," she said. "So now it feels like it’s coming to a different chapter of my life where it’s not going to be about getting Sofia to and from school anymore."
It's every mother's daunting moment, but her family is doing well, and thankful they left!
