Melissa Etheridge won't be performing one of her regularly scheduled at home concerts this week due to a tragic loss in her family. As People reports, the singer's team took to social media in order to tell the world that Etheridge's 21-year-old son Beckett, who she shares with ex-partner Julie Cypher, has passed away.

Etheridge's son's cause of death was a drug overdose
Etheridge has been hosting home concerts on Facebook Live since the middle of March, just as People mentioned. Since she was supposed to have a performance on Wednesday, her team wanted to let fans know why this would unfortunately not be the case.
"We're sad to inform you that Melissa's son Beckett passed away and there will not be a Concerts From Home show today," her team tweeted out, including the hashtag "#TeamME."

Melissa revealed to People the following statement: "Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction. My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends."
She continued, "My heart is broken. I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences and I feel their love and sincere grief. We struggle with what else we could have done to save him, and in the end we know he is out of the pain now. I will sing again, soon. It has always healed me."
