Keanu Reeves has opened up about a role he wishes he had the opportunity to play! As People shares, Reeves appeared on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM radio show alongside Alex Winter, and revealed what major franchise he wanted to have starred in!
Reeves says he's "all good with" not playing "Wolverine"
Reeves and Winter were promoting their new movie Bill and Ted Face the Music when Cohen asked them about roles they didn't get that they'd wanted to play! "I always wanted to play Wolverine," Reeves shared, referring to the iconic X-Men character. Winter seemed to think Reeves could still have a chance at the role though!
"It’s not too late. It’s not too late for Keanu to play Wolverine," his co-star said. "I’m just going to leave that there." However, Reeves disagreed with Winter's opinion. "It is too late," he replied. "I'm all good with it now." Cohen then asked Reeves if he was serious about wanting to take on the role. "Frank Miller’s Wolverine?" the actor said. "For sure."
Jackman didn't think he would get role of "Wolverine"
Reeves missed out on the role of "Wolverine," which ultimately ended up going to Hugh Jackman. As People mentions, Jackman played the superhero in several X-Men movies, as well as in the darker standalone film about the character, 2017's Logan. However, Jackman recently revealed that he almost didn't get to play "Wolverine" either!
"When I walked into that room, I was pretty sure that I wasn't playing the role," Jackman told The Tonight Show's host, Jimmy Fallon. "It was a weird audition because Dougray Scott had the role and then he got caught up in Mission: Impossible 2, but everyone thought that would get sorted."
Jackman went on to explain that his actual audition to play "Wolverine" was super short! "It was like this Hail Mary to begin with, which is probably the best way to do an audition," he said. "You're going in like 'Eh.' I think the entire audition was about 20 seconds. It wasn't much longer." Even though Reeves missed out on playing Wolverine, he's starred in two major franchises himself— The Matrix and John Wick!
