Blast from the Past!

This special gathering took place in Los Angeles, lighting up Beyond Fest at the iconic American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

With the legendary 'Speed' director Jan de Bont joining them, Reeves and Bullock were all smiles, reminiscing about the adrenaline-pumping filming days.

"We knew we were doing something wacky," Reeves exclaimed, recalling his role as the fearless SWAT officer, Jack Traven. Bullock, with her trademark humor, added, "I was behind the wheel of a projectile, so I was just happy to be alive at the end of the day."

The reunion wasn't just a walk down memory lane; it was a celebration of the sheer talent and dedication that went into making 'Speed'. Bullock, reflecting on her early days in Hollywood, shared, "I was new to the whole game... but I was just, you're just in it." Her commitment to safety and the unique experience of "smashing into things" during the shoot was a testament to the film's authenticity and her dedication.

"I was behind the wheel of a projectile, so I was just happy to be alive at the end of the day," joked Bullock, who played Annie Porter, a passenger on the bus who helps to prevent its explosion.

"I mean I was new to the whole game so I wasn't aware of what was happening or what felt right or what was not supposed to feel a certain way, but I was just, you're just in it," Bullock continued. "I have never been so proud of those two actors, what they did for me and quite often unnatural to them," said the filmmaker.

"What they had to do is just unbelievable. But the relationship that those two created together is absolutely amazing," he continued. "And seeing it back on the screen tonight, it was so real. They were absolutely perfect." Jan de Bont couldn't hide his pride.

"All the emotions were right, all the laughter was right, all the smiling, the little smoothing," the director added.

"It was really, really cool. And I had to tell them how great they both were," he continued. "I mean I realized more now how great you guys were at the time. I have to say busy, but now I really say, 'Oh s---,' and it's so good."

While 'Speed' remains a high-octane classic, both Reeves and Bullock have not slowed down. Reeves is set to reprise his role as John Wick in the anticipated 2025’s 'Ballerina' spinoff and will also grace the screen in Aziz Ansari’s 'Good Fortune'. Bullock is gearing up for a 'Practical Magic' sequel alongside Nicole Kidman, promising more magic and mayhem.
