Katy Perry's album Smile sadly won't be released on August 14, which was its original release date! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Perry took to Twitter in order to inform fans about the delay, and share some fun news!
Perry's Smile pushed back due to "unavoidable production delays"
Perry began with an explanation of why the release date for Smile had been pushed back. "Welp. I hate to throw this bad news at you like a pie in the face ... but if there’s anything 2020 taught me, it’s to not get too attached to plans and be malleable," the singer tweeted.
"Due to unavoidable production delays, my album #SMILE will now be released ✌ weeks later on August 28 ☹️." However, it's not all doom and gloom for Katy Perry fans! Perry also revealed in her Twitter thread that she's doing something fun to help make up for the disappointing news.
Perry launches #SmileSundays live online webseries
Perry announced that she will be doing a live online webseries in anticipation of Smile! "To make this up to you, starting this Sunday (Aug 2) and until the album drops (or until #Babycat...whichever comes first) join me for #SmileSundays!" she tweeted. "Every Sunday, time TBA soon, I’m going to go on LIVE for 30 minutes or more and talk all things SMILE."
"You’ll see new merch... I’ll play some snippets... maybe we’ll go live together... we’ll def have a good chat!" the singer said of her upcoming webseries. She also thanked fans for hanging in there. "Clowns-n-Cats - Thanks for being so flexible in this time... it’s a wild one, for sure, but I hope the patience will be worth the wait! ♥️ Love, Katy," she wrote.
"#Babycat" of course refers to Perry's as-of-now unborn baby, who she's expecting with fiancé Orlando Bloom! Perry has been learning to be a mom fast in quarantine since she's been around lots of children. The singer has also revealed how pregnancy has made her feel about her body. With the delay of her upcoming album, perhaps the new addition to her and Bloom's family will arrive first!
