Danny Glover

Born on July 22, 1946 in San Francisco, California, Danny Glover grew up in an activist background with his parents both fighting for equal rights. 'The Color Purple'

The eleven-time Oscar nominated film, The Color Purple stars Glover as "Mr. Albert Johnson", opposite Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg and is still a critically acclaimed film, which touches on the racial injustices and issues that African-American girls, "Celie" and "Sofia" face. A heavy but incredibly important film to watch.

'Lethal Weapon' films

The Lethal Weapon franchise are some of Glover's most popular films to this day! The buddy cop action-comedy stars Glover alongside Mel Gibson, who portray police partners "Martin Riggs" and "Roger Murtaugh". The first Lethal Weapon was released in 1987, with Lethal Weapon 2 in 1989, Lethal Weapon 3 in 1992, and the fourth released in 1998! But, it doesn't end there... there's been talks of a Lethal Weapon 5 set to also include Glover and Gibson as of January 2020, so keep your eyes peeled for more!

'To Sleep with Anger'

In 1990, Danny Glover starred in the main role as "Harry" in the drama To Sleep with Anger. As of 2017, the film has been recognized as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" within the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. To Sleep with Anger is centered around "Harry" and his wife who live in South Central Los Angeles, and they deal with cultural tensions when their friend pays a visit. 

Glover received an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead for his role in the film.

In 1990, Danny Glover played the role of "Lt. Mike Harrigan" in the science fiction action movie Predator 2. The film includes Gary Busey, María Conchita Alonso, and Bill Paxton as they fight off the infamous "Predator" creature. Predator 2 serves as the sequel to the first 1987 film, with its crossover Alien vs. Predator having been released in 2010, and its sequel Predators released in 2010.
