Billy Crystal is second in line only to comedian Bob Hope when it comes to hosting the Oscars! Crystal, a nine-time host of the ceremony, is now speaking out about the Academy's decision to go without a host for a second consecutive year.
Crystal feels that the show is lacking without a host. It "moves faster, but [it's] not quite the result you want," he said. He further explained that a comedian can react and ad-lib to occurrences during the show.

Kevin Hart was scheduled to host the Awards last year, but he dropped out after controversy was raised about his history of homophobic comments. No host was selected to replace him, and this Sunday's Oscars will also go without a host.
Jimmy Kimmel was the last to host the show, doing so in both 2017 and 2018. He agreed with Crystal in the interview on his talk show, expressing disapproval of the Academy's choice to forgo a host.
