Bernie Mac's movies and TV shows include a long list of hits! Born on October 5th, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, Bernie started his career in the entertainment business in the late '70s. As Bernie did his side gigs, he also worked in comedy during his free time on the weekends! After winning a comedy search when he was 32, he landed a part on HBO's Def Comedy Jam. He then started to land roles in movies, such as House Party 3, Above the Rim and Spike Lee's Get on the Bus.
By the early 2000s, Bernie had starred in a slew of movies, including:
- Ocean's Eleven
- Head of State
- Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
- Bad Santa
- Mr. 3000
- Ocean's Twelve
- Ocean's Thirteen
It was also in 2001 when he starred in the main role of The Bernie Mac Show, all the way until 2006! For the series, Mac received both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and won multiple Satellite and NAACP Awards for his performance.

Unfortunately for Bernie's health, he suffered from the disease sarcoidosis, which affected his lungs. He was admitted to a Chicago hospital in 2008 and went into cardiac arrest, as he was also suffering from pneumonia. Bernie Mac tragically passed away on August 9th at the age of 50.
