Alan Rickman

The British actor, film and stage director, and graphic designer, is most remembered for his portrayal of Hans Gruber in Die Hard and for his role as spooky "Severus Snape" in the Harry Potter series.

One of the best movie villains

He made his film debut in Die Hard, where he plays the villain of the film. He later plays several supporting roles before joining Kevin Costner in Robin Hood, where he plays the evil "Sheriff of Nottingham." His success allowed him to work alongside Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet in Ang Lee's Sense and Feeling; and Julia Roberts on Michael Collins and in Love Actually. But it will be his participation in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, where he gave life to the enigmatic "Professor Severus Snape."

"Forever"

In 1965, he met his girlfriend, Rima Horton, a councilor for the United Kingdom Labor Party, with whom he lived with since 1977. The pair married in 2012 in a private wedding in New York. They had no children. Rickman passed away on January 14, 2016, in London from pancreatic cancer at the age of 69.
