At the beginning of 2024, it was announced that Princess Kate had cancer. The news shocked the public, but Kate showed her resilience. In September, she announced with relief: "As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment." These words, accompanied by an emotional video, showed Kate with her family and gave an insight into the difficult time she was going through.

Just in time for the new year, the palace has posted a message on social media. An emotional review of the past year 2024 was shared on William and Kate's Instagram profile, featuring special moments from the couple.

Numerous photos followed, capturing moving moments. For example, the royal couple can be seen on a visit to Southport, which Kate spontaneously attended in October after having largely withdrawn from the public eye in recent months due to her illness. During this appointment, they met with the families of the victims of a tragic knife attack in the English town.

Pictures were also published showing Kate and William meeting a teenager with cancer. As part of a ceremonial investiture, the two had received the girl, who was suffering from a particularly aggressive type of cancer. Kate gave her a warm hug.

The young woman, also a passionate photographer, had been invited to take pictures of the ceremony. In addition to these pictures, William and Kate's account also featured a short message for the New Year: "Happy New Year!" wrote the palace on behalf of the couple. "Wishing you all a wonderful 2025."
