A Pause for Parenthood

Now, with several exciting projects in the pipeline, including a Netflix blockbuster and whispers of a 'Shrek 5' return, Cameron is ready to reclaim her throne in Hollywood. But what drove her away, and what's pulling her back in? Let's dive into the glitzy comeback of Cameron Diaz!

In an eye-opening chat at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, Diaz revealed the heartfelt reason behind her break from acting. After her last role in 2014's Annie, Diaz chose to focus on "reclaiming" her life, prioritizing personal happiness over Hollywood's hustle.

Marrying Good Charlotte's Benji Madden and welcoming two adorable kids, daughter Raddix and son Cardinal, Diaz found her bliss away from the camera's glare. But that's not all – she also ventured into the entrepreneurial world with Avaline, a clean wine brand, proving she's a powerhouse in and out of the acting world.

Now, Diaz is set to return to the big screen for Netflix’s 'Back in Action' with Jamie Foxx, premiering on the streamer in January 2025. She is also reported to be returning for the upcoming 'Shrek 5' and is in talks to star opposite Keanu Reeves in dark comedy 'Outcome'.

"It was just the right time for my family. After Covid, we were in the house for a long time, which was amazing and the problem was we would probably stay there, we would still be there right now. People would be like, ‘It’s over’ and I’d be like, ‘No it’s not, it’s not over for me,'" Diaz explained of coming back to Hollywood.

"So I had to push myself; my husband and I — my husband, who is the best — he was like, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family’ and supporting him in his businesses, he’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let Mommy ascend and do her thing.’ He’s like, ‘Let me see you do it girl.’ I was like, ‘Alright, here we go.'"

The Big Screen Beckons

Why the sudden urge to return? According to Diaz, the pandemic played a pivotal role. After months of cozy family time, the itch to act couldn't be ignored any longer. With her husband's unwavering support, Diaz felt it was time to let "Mommy ascend and do her thing."

And when Jamie Foxx came calling for Netflix’s 'Back in Action', premiering in January 2025, saying no wasn't an option. This project marks their third collaboration, reigniting a dynamic duo that fans can't wait to see.

It's clear Diaz is picking projects that resonate with her, promising a comeback filled with variety and excitement.
