On November 18, Buckingham Palace confirmed the sad news that Beth, one of Queen Camilla’s (77) beloved Jack Russell Terriers, had passed away the previous weekend. Charles and Camilla plan to adopt a new dog
During the Royal Variety Performance on November 22, King Charles discussed their plans to bring a new dog into the family while speaking with hosts Amanda Holden and Alan Carr.
Amanda Holden shared with 'People': "We mentioned Her Majesty and we wished her well and I gave condolences for the doggie. He said 'we're going to get a new one, Merry Christmas", she said.
Queen Camilla mourns the loss of Beth
The loss of Beth has been a deeply emotional experience for Queen Camilla. On their official Instagram account, the royals posted a series of heartfelt photos showing the Queen with her dog, along with the touching tribute:
"A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from @Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire."
The Queen's close connection to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where Beth was adopted in 2011, may play a significant role in their decision to adopt a new dog. Camilla, who is also a patron of the organization, has a long history with the charity. In addition to Beth, the royals also adopted companion Bluebell from Battersea in 2012.
