- Kevin Costner revealed a connection between 'Bodyguard' and Lady Diana
- This was the original plan...
A connection between Lady Diana and the film 'Bodyguard' may seem far-fetched at first.
In a surprising revelation, actor Kevin Costner shared intriguing details during his appearance on the 'People TV' show 'Couch Surfing' back in 2019.
Supposedly, Lady Diana was considered for a potential role in a sequel to 'Bodyguard.
Lady Diana would have starred in 'Bodyguard 2'?
"The studio liked the idea of doing a 'Bodyguard 2' [with Princess Diana] in the same kind of capacity as Whitney...Nobody really knew that for about a year," reported the lead actor of the film.
Kevin Costner's character would have shielded Lady Diana's character from stalkers and paparazzi, drawing inspiration from the real-life challenges she faced.
Naturally, they would have woven a love story, into the narrative. The script was already in full development.

Kevin Costner states he would have been happy to work with Lady Diana.
"I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone...She goes, ‘Are we going to have like a kissing scene?’...she was a little nervous because I think her life was very governed. [I answered], 'there’s going to be a little bit of that, but we can make that okay too,'" he said.
Nevertheless, any prospects of collaboration were abruptly halted. Lady Diana met a tragic fate in a fatal accident on August 31, 1997, rendering the envisioned idea impossible to bring to fruition.
The initial installment of 'Bodyguard' remains a poignant tribute to singer Whitney Houston, who passed away in 2012.
