Comedy legend Jackie Gleason was the man behind The Honeymooners. He created and starred in the original sketch that appeared on The Jackie Gleason Show in the early 1950s, before it launched as a series on CBS in 1955.

After The Honeymooners ended in 1956, Jackie Gleason continued his award-winning variety TV show in various forms until 1970. The multitalented performer also had a successful music career, and he later acted in The Hustler and Smokey and the Bandit.

Gleason died in 1987 after battling a range of illnesses. He was 71.

Meeting her husband "Ralph" with deadpan wit was "Alice Kramden," played by actress Audrey Meadows. She actually took over the role from Pert Kelton, who originally played "Alice" in several sketches on The Jackie Gleason Show.

Meadows continued to act for decades after The Honeymooners, and she was a frequent guest in projects with Red Skelton, Dean Martin, and celebrity roasts. She also had later TV roles on series including Uncle Buck and Too Close for Comfort.

Meadows lived to be 73 years old, passing on in 1996.

As "Ed Norton," actor Art Carney became a TV comedy legend on The Honeymooners. He was the best friend of "Ralph" and often got mixed up in his schemes. Carney also moved on to big things after The Honeymooners came to an end...

After The Honeymooners, Carney continued to appear on Jackie Gleason's shows, and he acted in many TV series and films. He even became an Oscar and Golden Globe winner for his starring role in 1974 movie Harry and Tonto.

Carney performed into the 1990s and had his final role in Last Action Hero. He died in 2003 at age 85.

Rounding out the main cast of The Honeymooners is actress Joyce Randolph. She played "Trixie," the wife of "Ed." She had a smaller role than the other three stars, but "Trixie" still had fun storylines that surprised viewers from time to time. Incredibly, the actress from the 1950s sitcom is still living today, too...

Randolph had few roles after "Trixie" on The Honeymooners, as she said directors believed she was "too well known" from the part to act elsewhere. She will turn 97 in October 2021.
