  • Learn some fun facts about the series

Westworld, the incredible and mind-bending, moral-twisting, roller coaster of a show has a few more tricks up its sleeve you may not have known! Find out more here...

1 - A Western & Rock Twist

The music that comes from the self-playing piano in the brothel, the Mariposa, are classic rock songs like "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden and "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones. The song twists give the Western themes a grittier kick.

2 - Delos' name

The name of the company that owns the park, Delos, is based on a Greek myth. Delos is an island where it is illegal for people (or Gods) to die. Much like Westworld where humans cannot be killed by the hosts.

3 - A Nod of the Hat

Westworld was originally a 1973 film written and directed by Michael Crichton. Michael Crichton also wrote Jurassic Park, which coincidentally has very similar themes to Westworld. The creators left a few homages to Michael Crichton throughout the series, including a direct quote. While Delos Tech "Felix Lutz" is trying to revive a robotic bird he encourages it by saying "Come on, little one!", exactly like Richard Attenboroughs character did in Jurassic Park while encouraging a baby Velociraptor to come out of its shell.

4 - A Prank on the Audience

Co-creators (and husband and wife) Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy pranked the internet sleuths who were combing through the season 2 trailer for spoilers by releasing a 25 minute video for those who wanted to know the secret and entire story of season 2. The video begins with Westworld Stars Evan Rachel Wood and Angela Sarafyan performing Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up", followed by 20 minute footage of a dog. The internet sleuths were truly Rick Roll'd.

5 - Jimmi Simpson is a sleuth

SPOILER WARNING: Jimmi Simpson who plays "William", figured out a major season spoiler all on his own. Most of the cast members were kept in the dark about their arcs so they would be just as surprised as the audience and the more they learned, the more the character subtly changed. Jimmi was having his makeup done when he was asked if they could adjust his eyebrows when he realized he was playing the young version of Ed Harris' Character "the Man In Black". The makeup artist who was in the know was shocked that Jimmi figured it out!
