Marvel fans beware! It looks like Tom Holland is ready to hang up his Spidey suit, and is saying goodbye to his take on "Peter Parker". While we've seen Holland in the role in now 3 Spiderman movies and The Avengers franchise, he's not sure you'll see him swinging from skyscrapers any time soon.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 25-year-old superhero dropped some bombs on fans surrounding the Homecoming trilogy. Read on to hear what he said, and prepare yourself with a tissue!
A bittersweet goodbye for Tom Holland
While filming the latest "Spiderman" movie, No Way Home, Holland quickly realized this could be the last time he and his costars got a chance to film together.
"I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you'd be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy," Holland admitted.
He added, "We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films. Whether that happens or not, I don't know."
He noted that his castmates also felt like it was the end, and treated filming that way. Perhaps that's what sparked the romance with co-star Zendaya! Holland did mention it was because of these films she and him were able to create such "an amazing relationship".
"We've been with each other every step of the way. We've done every single film, every single press tour," he mentioned, also referring to Jacob Batalon, who played "Peter Parker's" best friend "Ned Leeds".
"[It] was heartbreaking but also really exciting because we're all moving into the next chapter of our careers," he said. "So sharing that moment with them was maybe the best day I've ever had on set. I don't think I've cried like that ever."
Spiderman: No Way Home hits theatres on December 18, and also will feature Avengers costar Benedict Cumberbatch as "Doctor Strange". Rumours we'll see Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the film with a multiverse introduction have circulated as well, but the notorious spoiler spiller didn't reveal in his interview if the rumours are true.
