In The Way Back, Ben Affleck plays a former basketball star who gave up on his chances at success because of a difficult relationship with his father. In the years since, he's descended into alcoholism and regret.
The Way Back sees Affleck's character given a chance at redemption when he's offered the coaching job with his former team.

Who's behind the film?
The Way Back is a film from director Gavin O'Connor, who previously directed the sports films Miracle and Warrior. He also recently collaborated with Ben Affleck on The Accountant in 2016.

Ben Affleck returning to regular film roles
Affleck dropped out of his role as "Batman" back in 2017 after he relapsed in his own battles with alcoholism.
He returned with several roles in 2019. Now, along with The Way Back, Affleck will also appear in The Last Thing He Wanted and Deep Water in 2020.
