- The show aired from 1962 to 1971

For many the show set so many trends and transcended many barriers. Many actors popped up on the show over the course of its 249-episode run, including Harrison Ford, and Robert Redford, who all made guest appearances. But the core cast consisted of James Drury, as well as Lee J. Cobb, Doug McClure, Gary Clarke, Roberta Shore, Randy Boone, and Don Quine. Here’s a look at the cast members of the show, and which of its stars are still alive today.
These "Virginians" are still with us!
Gary Clarke played "Steve Hill". He featured in the first two seasons and some episodes of season 3. He was eventually taken out of the show. Clarke also appeared in movies such as 'Dragstrip Riot' and 'How to Make a Monster' and had a recurring role in the TV series 'Hondo'. According to reports, Clarke is still alive and was recently scheduled to make an appearance at the 2022 Cowboy Way Jubilee in San Angelo, Texas.
Roberta Shore played "Betsy" in the first four seasons. Eventually, her character got married and moved away from Wyoming. Shore was a child actor who appeared in several Disney productions. Shore essentially gave up a career in Hollywood when she was just 21 to get married and never looked back, as she said in an interview with the 'Deseret News' back in 2010. She turned 79 earlier in 2022!
Also interesting:
Singer and actor Randy Boone played "Randy Benton". He’s also appeared in episodes of shows such as 'Gunsmoke', and 'Highway to Heaven'. His last official credit was in the 1987 movie 'The Wild Pair'. According to his bio on the IMDb website, he is still alive and has been married to his second wife Lana since 2009.
