The Umbrella Academy Cast

The hilarious ensemble cast of The Umbrella Academy has taken the world by storm. Many of the cast had star power and well-known names like Ellen Page, Robert Sheehan, and Mary J. Blige while others have had their fame sky-rocket because of their awesome performance in the hit Netflix series. Check out all the people behind the fun characters of The Umbrella Academy, here!

"Vanya Hargreeves" was played by the most well-known and recognizable star to join the cast of Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy. She was a surprising but perfect addition to the dysfunctional "Hargreeves" family. 

Her storyline is one of the most tragic as she was the only sibling mislead to believe she did not have powers and the repercussions were great... almost apocalyptic!

She was played by...

...Ellen Page! She's known for her time on Trailer Park Boys, Juno, and X-Men! Ellen is an incredible and critically acclaimed winning actress and was perfect for her deep and complex role in The Umbrella Academy. Ellen married gorgeous Canadian dancer Emma Portner in 2018 however announced their divorce early 2021.

"Klaus's" character is easily the most hilarious and biggest draw to the show. His wild, rambunctious, silly, and impulsive behavior annoys his siblings to no end but entertains viewers every episode. 

From pawning family heirlooms to starting a very successful cult "Destiny's Children", "Klaus" finds fun and trouble wherever he goes.

"Klaus" is played by...

... Robert Sheehan! No actor was more fitting for the role of reckless "Klaus" than Robert Sheehan of Misfits and Cherry Bomb fame. 

The quirky Irish oddball easily melded into the charismatic, silly, and irritating "Klaus".

Robert has a very close relationship with his castmates and has even started a podcast with this fellow "Hargreeves" sibling...

"Luther Hargreeves" was dubbed the leader of his siblings which put a great deal of pressure on him and even stunted his life when he was the only one left to fight crime for The Umbrella Academy. 

His love for his adopted sister "Allison" also influenced all of his decisions.

"Luther" is played by...

...Tom Hopper! British actor Tom Hopper had previously starred as "Dickon Tarly" in Game of Thrones, Terminator: Dark Fate, and Doctor Who. In 2014 he married beautiful actress Laura Higgins and the two welcomed a son and daughter together. He has even publicly thanked The Umbrella Academy's Steve Blackman for allowing him to raise his children on set!

Tom and castmate Robert Sheehan even have a podcast together called "The Earth Locker."

The snarky and sarcastic "Number Five" can teleport through time and space but gets his 60-year old mind trapped in his 13 year old body!

"Number Five" is portrayed by...

...Aidan Gallagher! The almost 17-year-old actor has had a few smaller roles in Modern Family, and Nickelodeon's Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, before he landed a coveted spot on the hit Netflix series. Now he is focusing his efforts on his beautiful music and bringing awareness to causes that are important to him. He is even a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador!

"Ben Hargreeves" is one of the most curious characters of the series considering he is dead... but still around thanks to his brother "Klaus's" power! "Ben's" wild power allows him to summon terrifying tentacles from his stomach at will and he also is the one to help "Klaus" discover his true potential.
