The Outsider is based on the 2018 Stephen King novel of the same name and is brought to life on HBO in a 10-part miniseries about an unsolved murder. The show stars Ben Mendelson, Jason Bateman, Cynthia Erivo and Marc Menchaca and it is sure to be a hit. Following the story of "Terry Maitland" (Jason Bateman) who is a suburban parent that gets accused of a terrifying rape and murder of an 11-year-old boy.

The case is given to "Detective Ralph Anderson" (Ben Mendelsohn) where all of the evidence, eyewitnesses, fingerprints and DNA point to one man, however there is also irrefutable proof that this man was somewhere else during the time of the crime. This leads to an impossible problem with an impossible solution. The only place for this story to lead is of course, into supernatural territory.
The Outsider premiered on January 12th
The Outsider premiered with its first two episodes on January 12th on HBO and the show remains to be a "gripping and haunting tale of unspeakable crimes and extraordinary incongruities," according to The Daily Beast. Not only is Jason Bateman starring in the series, he is also executive producer and director. The writer for The Outsider is Richard Price who does an outstanding job bringing the novel to life, while Andrew Bernstein is directing 6 out of the 10 episodes.
The Outsider is "a portrait of the way in which grief spreads like a plague, infecting everyone it touched until the true tragedy isn't the initial calamity that befell a person, family or community, but the wreckage left in its wake," The Daily Beast.
