The cast of 'The Night Manager'

We were glued to our sofas each week like clockwork to watch the fabulous drama that was The Night Manager, which was, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best TV series of the last decade. The TV adaptation of the spy novel penned by John le Carré, who is lauded by literary critics everywhere for his remarkable gift for creating a certain brand of gritty paranoia, was adapted to the present day by David Farr.

Luxury hotel night manager "Jonathan Pine" (played by the talented and, sorry it has to be said, downright gorgeous Tom Hiddleston) is recruited by government agent "Angela Burr" (Olivia Colman) as a spy. He is tasked with the difficult and dangerous mission to infiltrate the inner circle of ruthless arms dealer "Richard Onslow Roper" (Hugh Laurie). In doing so, he becomes inextricably involved in the lives of "Roper's" associates and, far more perilously, with his beautiful girlfriend "Jed" (Elizabeth Debicki).

"Jonathan Pine"

Hotel night manager "Jonathan Pine" (played by Tom Hiddleston) is a former soldier, who fought in Iraq. Having witnessed too much during his time as a soldier he has withdrawn from life and all emotional relationships that it offers. Asked to photocopy some documents for a guest, he realizes that they contain lists of weapons and warfare chemicals to be sold. Believing that this information is too important to keep to himself, he hands the documents over to the "International Enforcement Agency". In doing so, he inadvertently causes the guest's death. This is just the start of what becomes a very dangerous journey into the inner circle of one of the world's most ruthless arms dealers...

Tom Hiddleston

Actor and producer Tom Hiddleston found global fame when he starred as "Loki" in the Marvel blockbuster Thor in 2011. In the same year, he also appeared in War Horse, The Deep Blue Sea, and Midnight in Paris. Since then, he has given brilliant performances both on screen and on stage and appeared in several more Marvel projects, including Avengers: Infinity War and the Disney+ series Loki. He lives in London and won the, ahem, highly prestigious, UK "Rear of the Year" award in 2016.

"Richard Onslow Roper"

"Richard Roper" (Hugh Laurie) is extraordinarily charming for an arms dealer. He is well-educated and, at first, glance appears to be a distinguished billionaire businessman, philanthropist, and gentleman. However, a look behind his polished exterior reveals an unscrupulous and merciless entrepreneur, who has amassed his fortune by the most despicable means possible— selling and buying weapons, trading in human life. In order to infiltrate his inner circle, "Jonathan Pine" saves "Roper's" son from being "abducted", in a carefully staged incident organized by an intelligence officer and "Pine's" handler, "Angela Burr" (Olivia Colman). A grateful "Roper" welcomes him into his inner circle, something that might prove to be a big mistake...

"Angela Burr"

"Angela Burr" runs the "International Enforcement Agency" from a shabby building in London. She is on a private crusade to destroy "Richard Roper". She feels connected to "Jonathan Pine" in that he also finds the arms trade despicable. However, she soon finds that "Roper" is not her only rival and that there are some far closer to home than she might have expected...

"Jemima 'Jed' Marshall"

Graceful and beautiful, "Jed Marshall" is a woman running from her past. "Richard Roper" makes her feel both glamorous and safe. When "Jonathan Pine" enters her life she wakes up to the dangers around her and realizes that she will not be able to hide from the past in Roper's bubble of wealth and privilege for much longer.

"Major Lance Corcoran"

"Major Lance Corcoran" (played by Tom Hollander) is "Richard Roper's" right-hand man and "fixer". He is an extremely loyal sidekick and is very protective of both "Roper" and "Jed". He suspects "Jonathan Pine" of being a spy from the very beginning and refuses to stop bombarding him with tricky questions.
