With a cast of Donald Glover, Beyoncé, and Seth Rogen, The Lion King is one of the most anticipated films of the year. This computer-animated Disney film is directed by Jon Favreau, the same man who directed Iron Man (2008) and The Jungle Book (2016). For Favreau, this will be his first musical-directed piece. In these newly releases images, Donald Glover mirrors his character of "Simba", as well as Keegan-Michael Key, Eric Andre, and Florence Kasuma mirroring as "Kamari", "Azizi", and "Shenzi", the notorious pack of hyenas.
The cast of The Lion King
Further released images show Beyoncé as "Nala", Seth Rogen as "Pumbaa", and Billy Eichner as "Timon", the sidekick meerkat. Although generated by computer, the characters of the new Disney film look uncannily real.
New technologies have made it possible to morph these characters into real-life. Next in line, Disney is set to produce an adaptation of The Little Mermaid in a matter of years. With the current success of Disney's newly released Aladdin, it's no surprise that the characters of The Lion King will find their roar in theaters July 19th.
