'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' Toxic Work Environment Update - Fires Top Producers

Ellen DeGeneres surprised her staff during a virtual staff meeting for The Ellen DeGeneres Show with a heartfelt apology and made a few drastic staff changes in hopes of gaining her staff's trust back.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show's toxic workplace environment reports have really shaken the hit show up and now Ellen DeGeneres herself has stepped in to make big changes. She surprised her staff in a virtual meeting to let them know of what changes she was actually making, personally and staff wise. She even got rid of the few producers with the most responsibility!

The Ellen DeGeneres Show Toxic Workplace Environment Apology

Ellen DeGeneres dropped in on a virtual staff meeting much to her staff's surprise. As reported she sent the staff an email apologizing that was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Now she has apologized during a video call where she said "I'm so sorry for what this has become. I've left this to be a well-oiled machine, and I realize it's not a machine... it's human beings. I apologize for anyone [whose] feelings I've hurt. I'm not perfect. I'm multi-layered and I learn from my mistakes. I care about each and every one of you. I'm grateful for each and every one of you.

According to Entertainment Tonight Ellen even explained to her staff that she has let go of 3 of her top executive producers, Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman, and Jonathan Norman while promoting DJ Stephen "tWitch" Boss to co-executive producer. The staff on the conference call felt relieved that action was being taken and that "It felt like a nice page turn" that left them "really hopeful and optimistic."

Ellen DeGeneres Herself Takes Responsibility For Toxic Workplace

The show host even took responsibility for some of the personal accusations against herself like that staff were not allowed to look her in the eye and she does not address some staff below her. Ellen said that is not her and apparently genuinely apologized for anyone who may have felt ignored or mistreated by her and begged her staff to please talk to her and look her in the eye.

One of the executive producers she kept, Andy Lassner told staff that all management will be taking training and education courses and that there will be a permanent Warner Bros. Human Resources employee at their show for the staff to reach out to when they feel they need.
