Gina Rodríguez plays "Jane Villanueva", a young woman whose meticulous life plans take a sudden turn when she becomes pregnant from accidental artificial insemination. After several years of success in New York, Rodríguez landed a lead role in the film Go For It, for which she received the 2011 Imagen Award nomination. Rodríguez had her first co-starring role on the CBS series Eleventh Hour and also went on to work on many web series like Eden’s Court and No Names. The first studio film she made was Our Family Wedding with America Ferrera and the leading role in the film Supergirls. Andrea Navedo plays "Jane's" mother "Xiomara", a modern young woman who wants her daughter to have all the opportunities she didn't have.Navedo was born and raised in the Bronx. She always dreamed of being an actress. After landing her first role in her school's drama program, she realized that pursuing an acting career might be a possibility for her. Navedo earned a BA in theater arts from Old Westbury College and then continued his studies at The Acting Studio.Navedo played Jennifer López's sister in The Singer and co-starred with Robert Pattinson from Remember Me. Recently, she appeared in the comedy Superfast by Peter Safran.

Ivonne Coll portrays "Alba", "Jane's" strong and loving grandmother. Coll is an award-winning Puerto Rican actress in television, film, and theater. She made her film debut as the redhead "Yolanda" in the Francis Ford Coppola film, The Godfather II (1974), which made her an international star and one of the first Puerto Rican actresses to jump from the Latin world to Hollywood. Throughout her career, she has shared the big screen with award-winning actors such as Al Pacino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, Dennis Hopper, Andy García, and Cuba Gooding Jr.Coll's television credits include Nip Tuck, Six Feet Under, NYPD Blue, The Practice, Heroes, Crossing Jordan, Judging Amy, Saturday Night Live, Cold Case, Joan of Arcadia, Without a Trace, and CSI. "Petra", the sneaky and manipulative character is portrayed by Israeli Yael Grobglas. She did an incredible job portraying herself as the villain but through the passage of time becoming a sympathetic character and a surprising LGBTQ+ icon! "Rafael" is the wealthy owner of a hotel and with whom Jane is secretly in love. A little crush quickly becomes a big problem after Jane realizes that she is expecting Rafael's child. Justin was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Medford, Oregon. During his childhood, Baldoni enjoyed playing soccer and athletics. He decided to continue athletics at the college level but was unable to continue competing due to a thigh injury.
