It seems like The Batman has found its "Penguin"! The 43 year old actor Colin Farrell, who recently starred in Disney's Dumbo, is in talks to play the legendary DC villain, also known as "Oswald Cobblepot." If the deal closes, it will be the actor's return to the comic book world for the first time since his role in Daredevil as "Bullseye" in 2003.
Created by Bill Finger and Gil Kane, the "Penguin" first debuted in the comics in 1941. The character is well known for being a master manipulator who uses an umbrella as a weapon. The iconic villain was previously portrayed by Danny DeVito in Tim Burton's Batman Returns (1992,) and by Burgess Meredith in the 1960's television show Batman.
What else do we know about the upcoming Batman film?
Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, and Jeffrey Wright, are some of the cast members who will star in the upcoming Matt Reeves-directed film, playing the "Dark Knight," "Catwoman," "The Riddler," and "Commissioner Gordon," respectively.
Production for The Batman is set to start late this year or early 2020. The film is set to premiere in 2021.
