Michelle Young's season of The Bachelorette lead to her becoming engaged, but fans might be surprised by who she ended up with! The winter finale of the reality television show saw Young decide between Brandon Jones and Nate Olukoya, a choice which came after a pivotal moment.
Young's parents shared thoughts on contestant Nayte
Young had already introduced Jones to her parents, but Ephraim and LaVonne were yet to meet Olukoya, a sales executive from Texas. However, their first impression of him wasn't the most favourable one. Ephraim commented on how he gave off "a different vibe" than Jones because he seemed more emotionally reserved, while LaVonne said she just "wasn't getting that feeling that he was ready to propose to her."
The "Bachelorette's" mother also expressed concern about Young's attraction to how Olukoya is "a little more surprising, a little less predictable." Despite her parents' opinion of him though, Young still wanted to give things with Olukoya a chance. That's why she went on final dates with both him and Jones— which resulted in a revelation after Olukoya expressed his feelings. "Nayte is ready for this," Young declared afterwards. Sure enough, he ended up getting down on one knee later on!
"The very first night I met you, I knew we had a connection that I wanted to hold on to," Olukoya began. He expressed his desire "to run away into forever" with Young, affirming his commitment to and love for her. Young called Olukoya her "soulmate" and reflected on the "kinetic moment" they shared when they first met, saying "yes" to his proposal! Hopefully their romance will end up lasting unlike that of the previous "Bachelorette" couple, Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes, who recently announced their split.
