Matt James, the next "Bachelor," is showing his support for Clare Crawley's upcoming season of The Bachelorette! As Entertainment Tonight mentions, James had been cast on Crawley's season before the coronavirus pandemic, but is now instead set to lead The Bachelor himself!
James says he'll watch Crawley: "She is gonna be great"
Crawley's cast of male suitors for The Bachelorette was revealed on Wednesday! James then commented on Entertainment Tonight reporter Lauren Zima's Instagram post, which asked what people thought of the season 16 casting.
"I’m tuned in! She is gonna be great," James said of Crawley, including popcorn and shooting star emojis. Some fans of The Bachelorette think that James may have been one of the men recast due to scheduling after the season was delayed, which happened before he was announced as the first Black "Bachelor"!
James never got to meet Crawley at Bachelor mansion
James and Crawley didn't even get to meet one another since production on Crawley's season was suspended back in March. The speculation that James was possibly recast came after a statement Crawley made on Twitter back in April that appeared to be directed at him.
"If you are doing interviews and creating Cameo accounts before you are even on my season... you are in it for the wrong reasons... #dontwasteyourtime," she tweeted. "Respect the opportunity you’ve been given. Respect the rules. Respect me. @BacheloretteABC."
However, James' fans pointed out that the proceeds were being donated to charity! His friend Tyler Cameron mentioned to Entertainment Tonight in May that he'd enjoy seeing James and Crawley "hash it out." Former "Bachelorette" Kaitlyn Bristowe also spoke out in support of James by expressing excitement about his casting!
