Why black and white?
Director Bong Joon-ho expressed interest in a black and white version of Parasite after seeing how it enhanced particular qualities of the film. "The film felt more realistic and sharp," he explained, "as if I was being cut by a blade." He also noted that a decoloured version of the film emphasized the acting, characters, and story.
Parasite's acting also recently gained the distinction of becoming the first international film to win the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
