The Sonic The Hedgehog movie is bringing in record numbers for a video game adaptation this February long weekend. The film's projected $68 million opening weekend total will surpass the record formerly held by the 2019 adaptation film Pokémon Detective Pikachu.
The movie's box office numbers will also place it among the top February long weekend openings ever!

Sonic The Hedgehog movie recovers from earlier backlash
Sonic The Hedgehog was a viral sensation for the wrong reasons when its original first trailer debuted in early 2019. The trailer was widely criticized for the creepy "humanoid" appearance of "Sonic." Shortly after, it was announced the film would delay its 2019 release while the character's appearance was redesigned.
Viewers seem to be satisfied with the new look for "Sonic," as they are getting out to see him in flocks this February 2020 long weekend. James Marsden and Jim Carrey also star in the film with the video game character.
