So You Think You Can Dance premiered its first season on July 20th, 2005 with Lauren Sanchez as the host. Nigel Lythgoe was the main judge (and still remains today) with Mary Murphy, Dan Karaty, Mia Michaels and Brian Friedman. Nick Lazzarini was crowned America's Favorite Dancer in 2005 with 37.7% of the votes.

The second season of SYTYCD aired on May 25th, 2006 with a new host this time, Cat Deely, who still remains the host today. Benji Schwimmer was announced as the season 2 winner receiving $100,000, a new hybrid SUV and a one-year contract in Celine Dion's Las Vegas show, "A New Day."

Sabra Johnson was crowned the winner of season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance in 2007. Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy signed on as permanent judges.

Joshua Allen is the winner of season 4! He received the title on August 7th, 2008 and was the first hip-hop dancer to win the show!

Season 5 brought us our second female winner of the show... Jeanine Mason! She was crowned America's Favorite Dancer on August 6th, 2009.

Season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance aired in the fall of 2009 and Russell Ferguson won the $250,000 prize on December 16th, 2009.

During season 7 in 2010, Lauren Froderman was named America's Favorite Dancer. She won the title, the grand prize of $250,000, an appearance on the cover of Dance Spirit Magazine and in print advertising for Gatorade.

The winner of season 8 of SYTYCD was contemporary dancer Melanie Moore. The runner-up this season was Sasha Mallory, meaning that this was the first season where the top 2 dancers were both female.

Season 9 saw some changes to the show. The results show was cut and they announced one female winner and one male winner: Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Eliana Girard. They took the titles on September 18th, 2012.

Just like in season 9, season 10 had two winners. The male winner of this season was Fik-Shun, who captivated the hearts of fans nationwide. He was crowned on September 10th, 2013.
