With Saturday Night Live, cast members inevitably come and go. But it's still a sad day for fans when it happens.
And SNL, now in season 48, is about to lose a popular cast member of over a decade!
Saturday Night Live says goodbye to long-time cast member
In the Dec. 17 episode of SNL, co-hosted by Steve Martin and Martin Short, the sketch series announced the departure.
It was: Cecily Strong. The comedian had been on SNL since 2012. In 2022, she even became the show's longest-running female cast member ever.
On SNL, Strong is probably best known for formerly co-hosting the "Weekend Update" segment. She and Seth Meyers were co-anchors for a time. Colin Jost too.
Also interesting:
Currently, Cecily Strong also stars in and produces the Apple TV+ series Schmigadoon!
But that's a wrap on her era at Saturday Night Live. Her work on the series also earned her two Emmy nominations.
