Ryan Reynolds made a special appearance on Jeopardy! in what ended up being one of Alex Trebek's final episodes! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Reynolds appeared on Monday's episode of the trivia game show— which was recorded last year, before Trebek's passing— to help the host deliver a fun clue!

Reynolds gives Jeopardy! clue about his upcoming movie

Reynolds' Jeopardy! moment came about when multi-day champion Brayden Smith chose a clue in the category "The Movies". That's when the Canadian actor appeared, introducing himself in a short video clip where he provided a hint that had to do with his upcoming video game-themed movie!

"I'm Ryan Reynolds. In my 2020 movie, Free Guy, I play a bank teller who comes to realize that he's really a NPC, short for this kind of character," Reynolds said. And as Entertainment Tonight mentions, Smith was able to deliver the correct response, which was "non-playable character"!

Reynolds calls appearing with Trebek "an honour"

Reynolds took to Twitter the same day the episode aired to retweet the clip of his appearance from the Jeopardy! account, adding a comment made in retrospect. "It’s an honour (and a little heartbreaking) to be with #AlexTrebek one last time on @Jeopardy," Reynolds tweeted. He also included a Canadian flag emoji as a nod to the fact that both he and Trebek hail from Canada— which undoubtedly made the moment even more profound!

And as Entertainment Tonight shares, Reynolds revealed shortly after Trebek's passing that the game show host will also be appearing in his upcoming movie! "Alex Trebek was kind enough to film a cameo for our film Free Guy last year despite his battle," the actor wrote. "He was gracious and funny. In addition to being curious, stalwart, generous, reassuring and of course, Canadian. We love you, Alex. And always will."
