Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa vows to do better when it comes to Riverdale's representation of diverse characters! After Vanessa Morgan— who plays "Toni Topaz" on the popular CW teen drama— took to Twitter to voice her frustrations earlier this week, Riverdale's creator has issued a sympathetic response to her tweet.

Aguirre-Sacasa apologizes for Riverdale's handling of diversity
Aguirre-Sacasa shared his response in the form of an Instagram post, asserting that he agrees with Morgan's criticism. "We hear Vanessa. We love Vanessa. She's right," he said on behalf of the show. "We're sorry and we make the same promise to you that we did to her."
He went on to assure fans of the show that its diverse characters would be handled much better in the future, including Morgan's character "Toni." "We will do better to honor her and the character she plays," Aguirre-Sacasa said.
Aguirre-Sacasa assures Riverdale "will be part of the movement"
Aguirre-Sacasa also made reference to how there's been efforts for media to become more inclusive and diverse. "CHANGE is happening and will continue to happen," he said. "Riverdale will get bigger, not smaller," he said. "Riverdale will be part of the movement, not outside it."
He also mentioned how while the Riverdale writers have made a donation to the Black Lives Matter movement, he's aware that there still needs to be substantial change from within. "We know where the work must happen for us," he concluded his message. "In the writers' room."
