- Riverdale is ending after seven season
- The producers have confirmed this news
- One of the main stars shares his thoughts
For over five years and six seasons, "Archie," "Betty," and the gang have been taking us on their adventures in the small town of Riverdale. However, the producers of the series of the same name have recently announced that season 7 will be over.
Riverdale to receive "an appropriate send-off"
Riverdale has aired on the CW since 2017, and the network's president, Mark Pedowitz, has spoken out. “I am a big believer of giving series that have had a long run an appropriate send-off. We had a long conversation with Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] yesterday and he is thrilled with the decision," Pedowitz told Deadline. "We are going to treat the show in the manner it deserves."
The final season of Riverdale can be expected to air in spring 2023. This announcement certainly comes as a bitter blow for many fans, since stars like Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are super popular. However, they have long wanted an end to Riverdale, which is why many are glad to see their liberation.

Nevertheless, the series' stars are also wistful. KJ Apa, who plays "Archie" in the series, shared his thoughts at the CW Upfronts. "I’m sad to be saying goodbye to Riverdale next season, to our sets, to our crew, to our producers, to our CW family but I can speak for everyone, for Cammy, Cole, Lili and the rest of our cast that we are so grateful for everyone’s support,” he said.
"To the fans, without the fans, none of this would be be possible," Apa continued. While he admitted that he won't miss dying his hair red every week, the Riverdale star made a promise to viewers when it comes to the show's final season. "We are going to end it with a bang, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
