'The Independent' reports that while 'Avatar; The Way of Water' may have finally graced box-offices in 2022, a series of delays for the franchise will continue. On June 13, Disney said that 'Avatar 3' has been pushed back to December 2025. The news impacts the franchise's entire timeline of planned installments, with 'Avatar 4' now slated to hit theaters in December of 2029.
Fans will have to be extra patient now
But that's not all. The delay pushes 'Avatar 5' all the way back to 2031. 'The Independent' points out that if those dates prove accurate, the 'Avatar' franchise will have spanned the first four decades of the century.
