- The NCIS Anniversary Season is almost here
- Steven D. Binder reveals what to expect
- There will be one or two surprises
The anniversary season of NCIS has it all - and differs in some respects from the series as we have known it so far.
Steven D. Binder (51) spoke to TVLine about the new NCIS season. The showrunner promisingly refers to this as a "season of love":
"So we may see a bunch of things happening, with a bunch of our characters," said Binder. He does not reveal who he means by that. However – spoiler alert – “Special Agent Jessica Knight” and “Dr. Jimmy Palmer" kissed at the end of season 19.
New NCIS season will be very different
"There are hesitations that they’re going to have, based on their personalities per se" Binder adds about the couple. He goes on to say that there is a lot to discover when you watch a relationship develop.
Aside from the love stories- "We’re really leaning into our characters this time around and focusing full episodes around them." Binder says. Among other things, NCIS fans will get to know the different sides of "McGee":
Also Interesting:
"We see 'McGee' as an agent, but he’s also a dad, so we’re going to have a show that focuses around him being a dad, which should be fun," explains the screenwriter.
New NCIS episodes: Here's how "Gibbs" continues
On the other hand, who the viewers really have to do without is “Gibbs”, who only appeared in conversations with his ex-colleagues after his departure.
"When he has ‘appeared’ so far, it was things like the college trust fund that he deposited money into... We do have plans to involve him in those ways again… ways that... I thought was the only fitting ending we could have given this guy. When he has ‘appeared’ so far, it was things like the college trust fund that he deposited money into... We do have plans to involve him in those ways again… ways that... I thought was the only fitting ending we could have given this guy." Binder clarified.
Accordingly, there will probably be no clarity in the new NCIS season as to where he is currently staying and what "Gibbs" is doing now.
