Lin-Manuel Miranda is excited for people across the world to experience being in "the room where it happens" from their own living rooms when Hamilton hits Disney+ in July!

As People shares, Miranda made an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday morning to talk about the brand-new trailer for the filmed version of the Broadway phenomenon. The Hamilton movie will be released on July 3— just in time for the Fourth of July weekend!

Miranda acknowledges that Hamilton hasn't always been accessible

Miranda talked about how that he's grateful that those who haven't been able to see Hamilton will now have the chance to do so! "No one can predict the way a work is received, and the way Hamilton has been received has surpassed everyone's wildest dreams, but our biggest issue has always been accessibility," Miranda shared with Good Morning America.

"So I'm really glad," he continued. "We had the luxury to basically shoot an independent film in our first year, and now the world can see what it felt like to be in that room in June 2016 next Friday."

As People mentions, the Hamilton movie— which features the show's original Broadway cast, including Miranda in the titular role— was created over several days of live stage performances and edited into a cinematic version of the show.

Miranda jokes that his family is "really an In The Heights" family

Miranda was asked on Good Morning America if his kids sing songs from Hamilton around the house, which was when he shared that they actually sing songs from his other musical, In The Heights! "No, we're really an In the Heights family," Miranda jokingly told GMA's Michael Strahan. "It's been a lot of 'Tell Me Something I Don't Know'; that's been the jam around our house when it comes to work I've written."

In The Heights was recently made into a movie starring Anthony Ramos— who was part of the original Hamilton Broadway cast— and was supposed to hit theatres this summer. However, it got pushed back until next summer due to the coronavirus. "It's really meant to be ... that's a movie-theater movie," Miranda explained.

"It's a huge movie adaptation. Everyone in it is a star, and we really wanted that to get the proper rollout it deserved," he continued. "But I couldn't leave you one summer without at least one musical, so I was very grateful that we were able to move up Hamilton so that everyone can see it next week."

Hamilton is seen as "both relevant and impactful" in current times

Hamilton made its Broadway debut in August 2015, and the show went on to win 11 Tony Awards the following year, including Best Musical. The original Broadway cast also included Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Christopher Jackson, and Jonathan Groff.

"No other artistic work in the last decade has had the cultural impact of Hamilton — an inspiring and captivating tale told and performed in a powerfully creative way," Bob Iger, Executive Chairman of the Walt Disney Company, said in a press release last month.

"In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful."
