The heartbroken showrunners shared the news on Instagram. They said they had planned three seasons of 1899, but the show has now concluded.

"We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a second and third season as we did with Dark," wrote the 1899 showrunners.
"But sometimes things don't turn out the way you planned. That’s life."
1899 was the latest series by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the team previously behind Dark, also on Netflix.
