Natasha Lyonne has been cast as the lead in an exciting new television show created by Rian Johnson! As Deadline reported, the Knives Out director is bringing his mystery series Poker Face to Peacock, and it sounds like it could be the next bingeworthy obsession!
Lyonne's new series said to be "entertaining and addictive"
Lyonne will be starring in Poker Face and executive producing the show through her company, Animal Pictures. While there are no specific plot details yet, Johnson will be directing and writing the series, which has been given an order of 10 episodes! NBCUniversal's president of scripted programming, Lisa Katz, released a statement about the upcoming show.
"Rian Johnson’s distinct sensibility and talent for telling edge-of-your-seat mysteries is a massive gift for Peacock, and we can’t wait for audiences to delve into each case," Katz said of Poker Face. "Paired with the acting genius of Natasha Lyonne, this series will be entertaining and addictive."
Johnson calls teaming up with Lyonne "a dream"
Johnson also shared his excitement about Poker Face, calling it reminiscent of the "fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness" that he watched while growing up. "Having Natasha as a partner in crime is a dream," the director enthused, "and we’ve found the perfect home at Peacock.”
Lyonne is best known for playing "Nicky" in Orange is the New Black and "Nadia" in Russian Doll, the latter of which is currently filming season 2. It was announced earlier this month that Schitt's Creek star Annie Murphy— who also stars in AMC's upcoming dark comedy Kevin Can F**k Himself— has joined the cast of Russian Doll as well!
