Nancy Meyers has teased an exciting reunion that's in the works! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Meyers took to social media on Thursday to suggest that a Father of the Bride reunion is happening in the near future!
Meyers to excited Father of the Bride fan: "Start melting"
Meyers was one of the co-writers of the 1991 rom-com Father of the Bride, which stars Steve Martin as stressed-out dad "George Banks" and Kimberly Williams-Paisley as his daughter "Annie," who's getting married. The movie— which also featured Diane Keaton and Michael Short— ended up getting a sequel in 1995, called Father of the Bride Part II!
Sharing a photo of the first movie's poster on Instagram, Meyers implied that something new is in the works. "If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020?" she wrote in her caption. "Coming soon to the phone in your hand!" As Entertainment Tonight mentions, a fan of the movie mentioned having "a George Banks level meltdown" if Meyers' post did in fact imply more Father of the Bride content. "Start melting," Meyers replied.
