'Money Heist' Awards The Show Has Won

In addition to winning over international audiences, the popular Spanish series Money Heist has also won some of the biggest awards in television. In this photo gallery you can revisit all of the Netflix crime show's most important award wins!

International Emmy Awards

After releasing season 1, Money Heist racked up its first major accolade by winning the International Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Series in 2018. The Spanish show, produced by Vancouver Media and Atresmedia Televisión, rose above the Indian series Inside Edge, Brazil's 1 Contra Todos and England's Urban Myths. It was also the first production in Spanish to win the award since its founding in 2002.

Phoenix Awards

Also in 2018, with season 2, Money Heist became the first Spanish series to win the now-defunct Fénix Award for Best Television Series. In the category, the Netflix show won over the first seasons of Here In the Earth, Felix, Luis Miguel: The Series and the third season of Narcos.

Silver Frames

As if that wasn't enough, the series that addresses the adventures of "The Professor" (Álvaro Morte) and his team of professional thieves was also one of the most popular among Spanish audiences during its first seasons. In 2018, Money Heist received the Audience Award for Best Spanish Series at the Fotogramas de Plata Awards. Fotogramas, one of the most prestigious magazines in Europe, decides the winners for the best of cinema and television in Spain.

Iris TV Awards

Besides being one of the most watched series in the world, Money Heist is also one of the Spanish film industry's biggest prides. This has been proven on the multiple occasions in which the series has been recognized by the Iris Awards—Spain's equivalent to the prestigious Emmy Awards.

In three different ceremonies, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has recognized Money Heist with awards like Best Screenplay in 2017, Best Director and Best Production in 2018, and Best Fiction in 2017 and 2019.

In addition, the work of Úrsula Corberó, Álvaro Morte and Alba Flores has been awarded in the performance categories.

Spanish Actors Union Awards

Over the past three years, the Union of Actors and Actresses of Spain has shown its affection for some of the protagonists of Money Heist.

In 2018, Pedro Alonso won the award for Best Supporting Actor. The award was then won by Fernando Cayo in 2020. For his part, Álvaro Morte was recognized with the award for Best Leading Actor in 2019.

PRODU Awards

The PRODU Awards, given by the PRODU site to recognize excellence in Latin American television production, has also showed love for Money Heist. In 2018, the hit show won two awards, for Best Series and Best Program Opening.

Gran Premio Internazionale del Doppiaggio

Italian audiences loved Money Heist nearly as much as fans did in the show's native country. At Italy's Gran Premio Internazionale del Doppiaggio, the production was recognized with the Award for Best Television Series in 2018.

Interestingly, the Italian talents that voice-dub Alba Flores (Perla Liberatori), Pedro Alonso (Alessandro Quarta) and Úrsula Corberó (Eleonora Reti) have also been celebrated with Italian awards.
