Almost five years after the end of Mike & Molly, actress Melissa McCarthy will return to television with comedy God's Favorite Idiot. It's set to premiere with 16 episodes on Netflix next year. McCarthy also serves as an executive producer on the project, created by the actress and her husband Ben Falcone.
Melissa McCarthy's new Netflix TV show: God's Favorite Idiot
This week, Netflix announced that it gave the green light to God's Favorite Idiot, a 16-episode series starring Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone. In addition to creating and starring, Falcone will executive produce the series, as will his wife and series director Michael McDonald.
The show tells the story of "Clark Thompson" (Falcone), a mid-level tech employee who falls madly in love with his co-worker, "Amy" (McCarthy), while also becoming God's messenger to the world — all while the apocalypse looms.

The duo recently finished filming the movie Thunder Force, which will premiere on the streaming platform next year.
In addition to the two Netflix projects, McCarthy and Falcone have worked together on seven other titles: films Bridesmaids, Tammy, The Boss, Life of the Party, and Superintelligence, and TV shows Nobodies and Little Big Shots.
