Ho-ho-ho. Almost three years after seeing him as an irresponsible father in the Christmas comedy Daddy's Home 2, Australian actor Mel Gibson is back on the screen with another curious role worthy of the holidays: Santa Claus. However, the Deadly Weapon star will not play a good-natured Santa Claus, but a broke, violent, and extremely bitter Father Christmas in the dark-comedy Fatman, which premiered its first trailer via Entertainment Weekly.

Directed by brothers Eshom and Ian Nelms, Fatman tells the story of the violent and unorthodox struggle of "Santa Claus" to prevent his Christmas emporium from collapsing.
When things aren't going so well for Santa, he "enters into a partnership with the U.S. military for extra cash." All the while, Santa gets "locked into a deadly battle of wits against a highly-skilled assassin (Walton Goggins), hired by a precocious 12-year-old who received a lump of coal in his stocking," according to EW.
Fatman: The great return of Mel Gibson
Although he has continued to work under the Hollywood radar, Mel Gibson has long gone without a box office hit like the ones he starred in during the eighties and nineties.
With Fatman, which will hit theaters in November this year only to jump to Video On Demand a few days later, Gibson will try to have more success than his films The Professor and the Madman, 2019, and Dragged Across Concrete, of 2018 had.
