Jeopardy! wasn't for LeVar Burton, but apparently trivia game shows still are.
Just three months after the 64-year-old was in the running for the Jeopardy! hosting gig — which became a scandalous nightmare — Burton is moving onto his own game show. It'll be an adaptation of Trivial Pursuit.
LeVar Burton hosting new trivia show after Jeopardy!
As Variety reported, Burton will host an upcoming series modelled on the game Trivial Pursuit. It doesn't have a network yet, but it looks like it'll be on TV down the road.
It's an interesting twist after Burton notably auditioned to become the host of Jeopardy! following the death of Alex Trebek. He was a top candidate among social media users, but the search concluded when little-known show producer Michael Richards got the gig.
But, before his era could even begin, Richards had to resign after a boatload of controversial and insensitive comments from his past were unearthed.
Some also felt a tweet from Burton that read, "Happy Friday, y'all!" minutes after news of Richards's resignation was a jab at the Jeopardy! debacle.
Afterward, Burton opened up about his try at Jeopardy! and said he realized "it wasn't the thing that I wanted after all." He told Trevor Noah: "When I didn't get [Jeopardy!], it was like, 'Well, okay, what's next?'"
It now appears the Star Trek actor has found his "what's next?" Stay tuned for more on LeVar Burton's upcoming Trivial Pursuit show.
