Yellowstone's first season premiered in June of 2018 on the newly established Paramount Network (formerly known as Spike TV) and was an immediate cable hit. The show's creator, writer and director Taylor Sheridan (director of hits such as Sicario and Hell or High Water) has an interesting way of describing the show:

"It’s an R-rated Bonanza. It’s like [classic Western director] John Ford came back from the dead and decided to make a TV show."

We can't be sure that Yellowstone will have a run similar to that of the classic Bonanza (which ran on for over 13 years) but the network did in fact pick the show up for a third season before the second season premiered on June 19th 2019.

Kevin Costner: "It hasn't been an easy adjustment for me."

While Costner certainly feels at home on a movie set, it was not the easiest of tasks to get used to the workings of a TV production, although he already was part of the miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, for which he won a Golden Globe in 2012. And even though he is a true Western legend (he starred in Open RangeSilverado, and Wyatt Earp in the past), he seems to still be grappling with the pace of filming schedule from time to time, as he reveals in an interview:

"It hasn’t been an easy adjustment for me. I don’t like it too much," Costner admitted to IndieWire.

Kevin Costner on his Yellowstone character: "He's unrepentant."

His portrayal of the stubborn widower and father of four adult children, "John Dutton", who owns a Montana ranch the size of a small European country, had critics and fans raving after the first season in the summer of 2018.

"He’d prefer to run the ranch like his great-great-great-grandfather did...John’s fingerprints are on questionable acts that a long time ago weren’t questionable," Costner told TVinsider. "He feels for the land, not so much who he had to tread on to get it. He’s unrepentant."

Yellowstone Season 3 is already in the works

While we are still watching the second season (Yellowstone airs on Paramount Network Wednesdays at 10/9 central), we can't wait to see what Costner and Sheridan have in store for the "Dutton" clan for season 3 in the summer of 2020.

Adam Rodriguez started starring on Criminal Minds in the 12th season.

"Luke Alvez" will star in another TV series!
