Iman Shumpert may have been known to the world as a basketball player, but he has proven he can hold his own on the dance floor! On Monday, Shumpert won the season 30 finale of Dancing With the Stars along with his dance partner, Daniella Karagach, and it was certainly a memorable moment!
Shumpert dances to high-energy hits for DWTS finale
Shumpert took to the floor with two up-tempo routines over the course of the evening. His first dance with Karagach was a routine to Earth, Wind & Fire's iconic song "September," which saw them combine elements of the cha-cha and foxtrot. Next, they did a freestyle to the Missy Elliot tune "Lose Control," where they incorporated the impressive lifts they have became known for!
Both routines earned the duo perfect scores of 40 points. Julianne Hough was one of the judges who praised them, stepping in for her brother Derek, who is still in quarantine. In the end, Shumpert and Karagach triumphed over runner-ups JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson, Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke, and Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten. Their win also marks the first mirrorball trophy for Karagach in the three seasons she has been on DWTS.
As well, the night featured several live performances from former DWTS contestants! Spice Girls member Mel C, who was eliminated earlier this season, sang "2 Become 1". Jimmie Allen then sang his song "Good Times Roll". While Shumpert may have started the season on a weak note, the NBA player ultimately surprised everyone and showed he is a formidable talent! Congrats to him and Karagach on taking home the mirrorball this year!
