How The Grinch Stole Christmas is an American fantasy-comedy from the year 2000. The film is about the "Grinch," a hairy, green creature who lives far away from civilization in a mountain cave. He hates Christmas, which is why he wants to ruin it for the inhabitants of the neighbouring town "Whoville". But not to worry! The film does have a happy ending.

As a child, "The Grinch" has a very traumatic experience, which is why he hates Christmas. When he was young he was made fun of by his classmates because of his appearance, which is why he lives in his mountain cave on the top of mount crumpit and not in "Whoville". He decided to disguise himself as Santa Claus and go to "Whoville" to steal all the decorations and presents. However, small "Cindy Lou Who" manages get the "Grinch" to like Christmas once again.

Jim Carrey played the iconic "Grinch" in the 2000 film. Since then, Carrey has continued to have much success in the entertainment industry. His latest starring roles are in 'Mr. Popper's Penguins' (2011), 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone' (2013), 'Dumb and Dumber To' (2014) and 'Dark Crimes' (2016). He recently appeared in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2', which was released in 2022. He also starred in the TV series 'Kidding' as "Jeff Pickles" from 2020 until 2022.

"Cindy Lou Who" realizes that the "Grinch" is not as evil as he appears. She sees that he is actually sad at heart instead of bad and wants to help him. "Cindy" persuades the "Grinch" to return all the Christmas presents he stole and celebrate Christmas with the "Whos".

Taylor Momsen played the adorable little "Cindy Loo Who" in the movie. Since then, she had a starring role on 'Gossip Girl' as "Jenny Humphrey" and now has left her acting career behind most recently as she is focusing on her music career. She is a singer in the band The Pretty Reckless.

"The Grinch" and "Cindy Lou Who" become friends. "Cindy" persuades the rest of the "Whos" that the "Grinch" is not evil and is able to get him to leave his tragic past behind him.

"Mayor Augustus May Who" was one of the "Whos" who made fun of the "Grinch" when he was at school. He wants to celebrate Christmas without the "Grinch," but when "Cindy" invites him to the annual Christmas party he agrees that the "Grinch" can come. The "Grinch" was in love with "Martha Whovier" as a child as she was the only one who did not make fun of him. When "Augustus" proposes to "Martha" at the Christmas party, all the bad memories that the "Grinch" has come flooding back to him and he is more set than ever on ruining Christmas for the "Whos".

"Mayor Augustus May Who" is played by Jeffrey Tambor. He started his career as a theatre actor, but then switched to film and television. He has appeared in more than 120 films and TV series. His most famous roles were in the films Hellboy II, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and in the TV series The Larry Sanders Show and Arrested Development. He was nominated for six Emmys for his performance in The Larry Sanders Show and has won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for his performance in Amazon's original series Transparent.

All of the "Grinch's" old feelings come back at the Christmas party. It is a huge blow that the one "Who" who always made fun of him when they were children now proposes to who he thinks is his great love.

"Martha May Whovier" is played by Christine Baranski. She has starred in numerous films including Legal Eagles and Mamma Mia!. She had a recurring role in The Big Bang Theory starting in 2009 and starred as one of the leads on The Good Wife from 2009 until 2016. She has starred on The Good Fight since 2017. She has been nominated for eight Emmy Awards. Since married the actor Matthew Cowles in 1983 and the couple remained married until his death in 2014. She has two daughters.
