Hilary Swank flies 'Away' to Mars
The dramatic series finally dropped the trailer on Netflix Monday morning, and fans and space enthusiasts are eager for the series.
"Emma Green", played by Swank, grapples with the decision of leaving her husband and teenage daughter to explore Mars in a first-ever manned mission.
Created by Andrew Hinderaker, the series is described as being "a thrilling, emotional drama on an epic scale that celebrates the incredible advancements humans can achieve and the personal sacrifices they must make along the way."
"As the crew’s journey into space intensifies, their personal dynamics and the effects of being away from their loved ones back on Earth become increasingly complex," the synopsis continued.
Swank talked about the struggles of filming the series during a virtual interview for the Television Critics Association and revealed the hardest part of filming was mimicking zero gravity.
The actress said that it "takes a lot of effort and a lot of effort to make it look effortless."
She also revealed that while filming those scenes, the actors were harnessed in their middle section, having to flex their abs in order to move forward or backward.
"The whole time we’re squeezing these muscles so tight, trying not to talk funny," she said. "You naturally want to talk like you’re in slow motion, which people don’t do in zero gravity. It was, I think, for all of us a lot more challenging than we realized it would be."
